Hi. I’m David Guion, the Sustainability Scout.
What does it mean to live sustainably?
You may have heard of three pillars of sustainability: environmental, economic, and social. It can seem so complicated. It doesn’t have to be.
Sustainable living simply means practices we can keep up indefinitely without causing harm. Polluting the environment isn’t sustainable. But as many people have found, neither is trying to make drastic lifestyle changes all at once.
Here’s the secret to sustainable living: find a few things you can easily do to be good for the environment and your neighbors. When they become habit, find a few more. And so on. And you’ll be money ahead, because you’ll be wasting less than most people.
You might wonder if your choices as an individual really matter. And if you consider only the impact of your decisions, maybe they don’t. But the impact of tens of millions of people making similar choices adds up. We can all either be part of the solution or part of the problem.
Still, a lot of what we hear about it provides more heat than light, more emotion than reasoning.
Where can you find carefully researched, balanced, and practical information that can help you live in harmony with nature?
